An Icelandic Morning — Cloud Formations over Mountains and Snow-dusted Lava Field

Hatha Yoga / Geothermal Hot Springs Retreat in Iceland

October 13-20, 2018

Visit one of the most geologically interesting, crime-free, and photogenic countries in the world. Tour some of its most interesting attractions. Hike on flat or gently rolling landscape through beautiful valleys and lunar-like lava fields. Learn about Iceland’s history, geology, culture, and nature.  Do all of this plus relax and rejuvenate with Hatha Yoga (twice daily, all-levels) with Fran Gallo and in the natural geothermal baths (or as they say “hot pots”) of Iceland. You’ll have a chance to experience the world-famous Blue Lagoon, a traditional Icelandic spa on Lake Laugarvatn, and a natural hot spring at the end of a short hike through a beautiful valley. In addition, our quiet resort has several outdoor hot tubs filled with pure hot spring water for you to enjoy any time you wish during your stay. As a bonus, October is one of the best months for viewing Iceland’s spectacular Northern Lights! On a past trip we viewed the Northern Lights while soaking in the hot spring-filled tubs outside our cabins.

Daily Tours

  • Driving Tour of Reykjanes Peninsula includes: Sightseeing at Seltun, walking the foot-bridge between the Eurasian and American continental plate, seeing beaches, lighthouses, and headlands.
  • See the gentle Icelandic horses, tour Strokkur Geyser and Gullfoss Waterfall, and hike Kerid volcanic crater lake.  Visit the greenhouses of Friðheimar and enjoy a yummy tomato soup lunch at their cafe.
  • Glacier tour with a barbecue at the top of the glacier.
  • A day at a traditional Icelandic geothermal spa on Lake Laugarvatn. You can enjoy the outdoor hot pools, a heated swimming pool, indoor natural steam rooms (steam is straight from the earth) and alternate these experiences with a very cold dip (for those brave enough!) in Lake Laugarvatn, the largest lake in Iceland.
  • A trip to Thingvillir National Park with a hike along the intersection of the North American and Eurasian plates. You will see the location where government first began in Iceland in the year 930 and a location along the fault line that is very popular with divers because of its deep blue water and unusual land formations. Hike to Bruarfoss Waterfall.
  • Hike through the green valleys of Fludir and then relax in natural outdoor hot springs in a nearby secret lagoon!
  • Enjoy free time to explore Reykjavik (shop, sit in coffee shops, pubs, and sushi bars, visit HARPA Concert Hall, see the outdoor Einar Jonsson Sculpture Garden or visit the National Museum of Iceland).  Our boutique hotel will provide a 24-hour pass to visit all three Reykjavik art museums.
  • Enjoy a guided tour of Iceland’s largest private collection of art.
  • On the day of departure you have the option, en route to the airport, of stopping by the Blue Lagoon to soak.
